The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking information from vendors interested and capable of providing a medication syringe labeling system for anesthesia/OR use. The system must scan the drug vial/ampoule barcode, audibly and visually confirm drug identity, and print a color, TJC-compliant syringe label at the point of preparation. The system must also meet various regulatory and medical device requirements, including FDA 510(k)-cleared Class II medical device and CE-marked medical device. Some key features of the system include:
• Integrated point-of-care station with touch-screen computer, 2D barcode scanner, color inkjet label printer, audio feedback, and network capability
• Barcode scanning of FDA NDC or equivalent drug container barcode to identify the medication and populate the label from a pharmacy-managed formulary
• On-screen text and audio confirmation of drug name and key attributes before printing
• Printing of water-resistant, full-color syringe labels including drug name, concentration, diluent and dilution, expiration date and time, preparation date and time, preparer initials, applicable warnings, and a machine-readable barcode
• Pharmacy-driven formulary management with site-specific drugs, concentrations, diluents, and warnings
• Integrated 2D barcode scanner capable of reading various symbologies from drug containers and labels
• Automatic label cutting with integrated label cutter
The vendors must provide information on their company/individual name, size status, service capability statement, SAM Entity Unique Identifier, address, point of contact, and examples of similar facilities to which similar items have been provided.
