Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking to purchase high-speed video cameras for quantitative analysis of impact tests. The cameras will be used with existing cameras to allow tests that NIST cannot currently perform, such as stereo imaging of both the front and back of an armor specimen during a ballistic impact. The cameras must be compatible with the existing software package, Photron FASTCAM Viewer (PFV), and the sole source justification is based on the need for compatibility and the costs associated with using multiple software packages. Some key points to consider: • The cameras will be used for ballistics testing and must be synchronized to record at the same instant. • The existing cameras are from Photron, and the new cameras must be compatible with the PFV software package. • The sole source justification is based on the need for compatibility and the costs associated with using multiple software packages. • The NAICS code for this requirement is 333316, Photographic Equipment Manufacturing. • The small business size standard for this requirement is 1000 employees.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate, as the document does not provide a specific amount. However, based on the fact that the cameras are high-speed and specialized, and the sole source justification is based on the need for compatibility with existing software, it is likely that the budget will be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the cameras are high-end and specialized, and the costs associated with purchasing and maintaining them will be significant. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the number of cameras purchased, the level of customization required, and the costs associated with maintenance and updates.
