Description

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking bids for the purchase of an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP OES) for the Chemistry Department. The ICP OES should include a computer and software, autosampler, and other features as specified in the Technical Specifications section. The contract will be for one year, with the option for the University to negotiate additional discounts and/or lower prices for standard products. The University reserves the right to award the contract to one or multiple bidders. • The ICP OES must meet specific technical requirements, including the ability to run organic and aqueous matrices, a compressed air shear gas, and a radial view that allows viewing 10-25 mm above the flat induction plates. • The instrument must have an echelle-based polychromator, simultaneous spectral range acquisition, and a built-in mercury lamp for automatic wavelength calibration. • The software must be capable of running in Windows 10, have automated system startup and shutdown, and include features such as semi-quantitative analysis mode, real-time graphics, and automated quality control checking. • The system must include a random access autosampler capable of holding 120 or more 15 mL sample vessels and have the ability to accommodate various auto sampling systems. • The contract includes a one-day in-person training session, and the vendor must describe the number of years they expect to carry parts and offer service for the model offered.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract is likely to be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000, depending on the specific model and features of the ICP OES purchased. This estimate is based on industry standards for laboratory equipment and the specifications outlined in the Technical Requirements section. The final budget will depend on the bid price and any negotiations that occur during the contracting process.
