Outside Counsel – Railroads and Rail Facilities

The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking outside counsel to provide legal representation in the area of railroads and rail facilities. The selected firm will advise and represent the department on matters relating to the acquisition, lease, maintenance, construction, operation, and management of railroads and other rail facilities. The firm will also provide legal advice concerning the department's rights and obligations with respect to a rail carrier's abandonment of or discontinuance of service on a rail line. • The firm should have experience in providing legal services in the area of railroads and rail facilities • The firm should have a team of attorneys with expertise in this area • The firm should have the necessary resources and capabilities to handle the department's requirements • The firm should be willing to comply with the rules, policies, directives, and guidelines of the department, the commission, and the AG • The firm should have a cost control procedure in place to ensure timely and cost-effective provision of legal services
