Auction Service RFP

The Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) is seeking proposals for auction services to sell their fleet of vehicles and specialized equipment. The ideal bidder will possess a proven track record in conducting successful vehicle and equipment auctions and have extensive experience in marketing and selling both light- and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as familiarity with specialized tools and equipment. The auctioneer will provide comprehensive auction services, including a detailed inventory, targeted marketing, and conducting the auction using professional staff and technology. The scope of work includes maximizing the sale price of the assets, reaching a broad and qualified audience of potential bidders, and successfully selling the specified assets within the agreed-upon timeframe. Key responsibilities include: • Providing a detailed inventory of all items to be sold • Developing and executing a targeted marketing plan • Organizing items into logical lots and preparing them for display • Establishing clear and legally compliant terms of sale • Conducting the auction and overseeing the bidding process • Providing real-time or post-auction reports on bidding activity and sales progress • Collecting payments from successful bidders and managing settlement procedures
