Description

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate and award a firm-fixed-price purchase order on a sole source basis to Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Inc. for the purchase of brand-name Oxford Nanopore long-read RNA sequencing consumables required to support the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias’ (CARD) induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Neurodegenerative Disease Initiative (iNDI). The required supplies include Oxford Nanopore PromethION Flow Cells Packs DNA and cDNA-PCR Sequencing Kit V14. These consumables are necessary for large-scale long-read RNA sequencing of 600 postmortem human brain samples to characterize gene expression and isoform diversity in the aging and neurodegenerating brain. • The required supplies must meet specific salient characteristics, such as generating consensus data at a modal accuracy above 99% and being compatible with Government-owned Oxford Nanopore PromethION 48 sequencers. • The Government’s minimum need is for brand-name Oxford Nanopore consumables because the National Institute on Aging currently operates Government-owned Oxford Nanopore PromethION 48 sequencers. • Interested parties may submit a capability statement for consideration, which must include company name, SAM UEI, and business size status, point of contact information, evidence of ability to provide the exact brand-name items, technical documentation demonstrating compatibility, and delivery capability and estimated lead time.

Budget estimate

$257,000 – $771,000

Based on the quantities of the required supplies, the total cost of the Oxford Nanopore PromethION Flow Cells Packs DNA and cDNA-PCR Sequencing Kit V14 can be estimated. Assuming an average cost of $1,000 to $3,000 per flow cell pack and $500 to $1,500 per sequencing kit, the total cost would be approximately $200,000 to $600,000 for the flow cells and $57,000 to $171,000 for the sequencing kits, resulting in a total estimated cost of $257,000 to $771,000. However, these estimates may vary depending on the actual prices of the supplies and other factors.
