Description

The State of California Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a qualified electrical contractor to furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary to install EV charging infrastructure at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. The work includes installing five (5) EV chargers (as clarified in Q&A) or, per later addendum notes, a total of 53 charger units (four 70 A single‑port and one 30 A dual‑port pedestal) with associated trenching, conduit, new utility service connection, and a distribution panel. The contractor must hold a C‑10 (or B) California electrical contractor license, comply with all state and local codes, protect park trees and soils, and provide a one‑year workmanship guarantee. Bids must be received by 2 PM on 7 April 2026, and the successful contractor will have a 60‑day performance window after a notice to proceed, with a total contract period of up to 425 days. • Install 5 (or 53) EV charging stations, including trenching, conduit, new service, and panel installation. • Must attend mandatory site‑walk on 26 Mar 2026; failure to attend disqualifies the bid. • Requires C‑10 or B electrical contractor license; all work must be completed within 60 calendar days after notice to proceed. • Engineer’s estimate $100,000; small‑business and DVBE preferences applicable. • Contractor responsible for as‑built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and final waste‑management report.

Budget estimate

$90,000 – $120,000

The solicitation cites an engineer’s estimate of $100,000 for the EV charger installation. Considering typical contractor mark‑ups, labor rates, and potential subcontractor costs, the final contract award is likely to fall within a modest range around that figure—approximately $90,000 on the low end (if the contractor can leverage efficiencies) to about $120,000 on the high end (allowing for premium equipment or additional scope). This range accounts for the small‑business preference and possible DVBE incentive adjustments but excludes any unanticipated change orders.
