Description

The Virginia Department of Transportation is issuing a Request for Applications to fund the installation, operation, and maintenance of electric vehicle charging stations along the state’s designated Alternative Fuel Corridors as part of the NEVI Formula Funding Program. This grant will support multiple charging sites, requiring contractors to perform site assessment, electrical work, hardware installation, and ongoing service. • Install and commission EV charging stations at locations along the AFCs. • Provide operation and maintenance services for the installed infrastructure. • Comply with NEVI funding requirements and VDOT specifications, including reporting and performance metrics. • Potentially coordinate with local jurisdictions and utilities for site access and power supply.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

This grant program typically funds the full lifecycle of EV charging infrastructure, from site preparation to ongoing maintenance. Based on similar NEVI-funded projects, each charging station installation can range from $30,000 to $150,000, and a statewide deployment could encompass dozens to hundreds of stations. Consequently, total contract values are likely to fall between $0.5 million and $5 million, depending on the number of sites, equipment specifications, and service length.
