Description

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Clinical Division seeks a contractor to provide comprehensive germline genetic testing using a validated Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS) panel covering ~111 genes linked to bone marrow failure, aplastic anemia, myeloid neoplasms, clonal hematopoiesis, and related hematologic disorders. The contractor will supply specimen kits, perform sequencing, conduct bioinformatics analysis, confirm findings with orthogonal methods, generate clinical reports, and provide secure electronic access and technical consultation. Work will be performed at the University of Chicago Genetics Services Laboratory with a one‑year base period and up to four optional one‑year extensions. • Provide NGS assay (Illumina or equivalent) covering coding regions, selected UTRs, and pathogenic variants. • Perform DNA extraction, library prep, sequencing, bioinformatics alignment, variant calling, and clinical interpretation. • Supply specimen collection kits, prepaid shipping, and secure reporting portal. • Maintain all required clinical laboratory certifications (CLIA, CAP, etc.). • Deliver reports to NHLBI labs; support technical queries and ensure data confidentiality. • Base period of 1 year, with four optional 1‑year extensions (maximum 5 years).

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,500,000

No monetary value is disclosed in the solicitation. Based on typical federal contracts for comprehensive NGS panels covering >100 genes, a one‑year service contract with a major academic lab often ranges from several hundred thousand to a few million dollars, depending on specimen volume, reporting requirements, and optional years. Assuming moderate sample throughput (≈200–400 specimens per year) and the high‑complexity nature of the work, a reasonable estimate is $0.5 M to $2.5 M for the base year, with additional funds for each optional year.
