Heavy Duty Tow Service for Transit Buses and Fire Apparatus

The City of Santa Monica is seeking a vendor to provide heavy-duty tow services for its transit buses and fire apparatus. The vendor will be required to provide service within 1.5 hours of notification and have a minimum of five flatbed type trailers and a 50,000-pound wrecker type in its fleet. The vendor must also have a minimum of five years' experience in towing transit coaches and provide proof of ownership of the required equipment. • The vendor will be responsible for towing the City's vehicles, including 30-foot, 40-foot, and 60-foot compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, and 35-foot and 40-foot battery electric buses (BEBs). • The vendor must ensure that all Battery Electric Vehicles are locked out and tag out by a BBB qualified service technician prior to loading the vehicle on a Landoll trailer. • The vendor must use the appropriate equipment as specified by the bus manufacturer and per Big Blue Bus departmental policies when towing 60-foot articulating buses. • The vendor must have a minimum of five years' experience in towing transit coaches, including 60-foot articulating buses, 40-foot buses, 30-foot buses, over-height buses, Fire Department (FD) pumper trucks, and FD tractor-drawn aerial trucks (TDA).
