Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 1, is seeking information from qualified vendors regarding laboratory and pharmacy courier services. The selected contractor will be responsible for transporting lab specimens, medical supplies, and related materials between various facilities and laboratories in a timely and secure manner. The contractor must provide daily courier services, emergency and as-needed pickups and deliveries, and transport items such as blood specimens, laboratory specimens, oxygen, patient records, X-rays, medical supplies, and other materials. The contractor must also ensure chain-of-custody integrity during specimen transport and use technology or tracking systems to monitor shipments in real-time.
Some key requirements include:
• Providing 24/7/365 service, including federal holidays
• Ensuring 30-minute STAT pickups and 2-hour maximum turnaround times
• Maintaining temperature control for specimens and medications
• Ensuring the confidentiality of patient information and records
• Complying with all relevant laws, regulations, and VA policies
