The Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research to identify potential sources that can provide a shielded x-ray cabinet for the VA Portland Health Care System. The system should have similar physical characteristics to the X-RAD 320 and deliver doses of radiation to living biological specimens. The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment, labor, materials, and supervision for the procurement, shipping, and installation of the new machine. The system must meet specific salient characteristics, including a shielded x-ray cabinet conforming to FDA CFR 1020.40, a 4kW 320kV metal ceramic tube, and a cooler. The contractor must also provide installation and application training, decommissioning of the existing unit, and meet certain security requirements.
• The system will be installed in Building 103 E147, replacing the existing XRAD machine.
• The contractor must have specialized experience with the equipment and servicing to provide thorough installation and address any concerns or malfunctions.
• The VA Portland onsite facility POC will inspect the equipment after delivery and conduct annual performance monitoring.
• The contractor employees will require intermittent access to VA facilities and will be escorted by VA employees.
