Description

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking a high-density single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) marker panel for genotyping Florida pompano. The panel will be used to accelerate genomic selection and genome-wide association studies by linking desired traits to specific genetic markers. The contractor will be responsible for developing the panel, which will involve whole genome sequencing, identification of polymorphic markers, and validation of the panel. The contract will be for a period of 12 months, and the contractor will be required to deliver the SNP panel within 8 months of the award date. • The contractor will be required to perform whole genome sequencing at 20x read depth for 5 pools of 10 samples. • The contractor will be required to develop a panel of 30,000-60,000 polymorphic markers distributed across the genome of the species. • The contractor will be required to validate the panel using a genetically diverse set of validation samples. • The contractor will be required to deliver the SNP panel to the USDA facility in Fort Pierce, FL.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract is not explicitly stated, but based on the scope of work, it is likely to be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. The factors that may influence the likely payment range include the cost of whole genome sequencing, the number of samples to be sequenced, and the complexity of the panel development and validation process. Additionally, the contract is a firm-fixed price contract, which means that the contractor will be paid a fixed amount for the work, regardless of the actual cost.
