FY24 Port of Rosedale Multimodal Expansion: Great River Railroad Restoration Project

The FY24 Port of Rosedale Multimodal Expansion: Great River Railroad Restoration Project aims to restore function to the Great River Railroad, which runs from the Port of Rosedale to the Columbus and Greenville Railroad in Metcalf, MS. The project is divided into two phases, with Phase 1 including preliminary engineering, final design, and construction activities to repair the 31-mile railroad. The project will replace ties, repair grade crossings, install supplemental ballast rock, resurface track, repair timber bridges, and install concrete culverts. The successful completion of the project will enhance resiliency and redundancy for both the Port of Rosedale and the wider region. • The project is part of a larger effort to restore the Great River Railroad. • Phase 1 activities will include preliminary engineering, final design, and construction. • The project will replace approximately one-third of the timber rail ties. • The project will repair 33 grade crossings and install additional supplemental ballast rock. • The project will resurface track, repair 4 timber bridges, and install 1 concrete culvert.
