Platinum Storage, Maintenance and Protection

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is seeking a contractor to provide storage, maintenance, and protection of government-owned platinum. The contractor will be responsible for storing the platinum in a suitable space, maintaining its condition, and protecting it from loss or theft. The contract will be awarded on a sole-source basis to Corning Incorporated. The period of performance is expected to be 10 years, from April 1, 2021, through March 31, 2031. The contractor will be required to provide the status of the platinum inventory, including its state, configuration, location, weight, and purity, 30 days prior to the end of the period of performance. • The contractor must have experience in handling precious metals, particularly platinum. • The contractor must have a secure facility to store the platinum. • The contractor must be able to provide maintenance and protection services for the platinum. • The contractor must be able to provide regular updates on the status of the platinum inventory.
