Description

The County of Butte is seeking a contractor to provide trucking services for aggregate materials and debris removal throughout the Valley and Mountain areas of Butte County. The contractor will be responsible for delivering aggregate materials from source suppliers to specified work site locations or stockpiles, and for transporting debris to locations specified by the County. The contract term is expected to be five years, with firm fixed pricing required for the first three years and potential price escalation for subsequent years. The County reserves the right to award contracts to one or more bidders, and to reject all bids if deemed to be in the County's best interest. Some key points to consider include: • The contractor must provide trucking services for aggregate materials, including chip screenings, hot asphalt concrete, rip rap, aggregate base rock, and sand. • The contractor must also provide trucking transportation for debris removal, including securing loads and covering them with tarps when required. • The County will be responsible for loading debris into trucks and/or trailers, and for paying fees for the disposal of debris materials. • The contractor must register with the State of California Department of Industrial Relations under the New Public Works Contractor Registration Law, and must pay prevailing wages to workers employed on public works projects. • The contractor must also maintain insurance coverage, including commercial general liability, automobile liability, and workers' compensation insurance.

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $25,000,000

The budget for this contract is not explicitly stated, but based on the scope of work and the contract term, it is likely to be a significant amount. The contractor will be compensated on an hourly basis for trucking services, with a not-to-exceed contract price of $_____TBD_____. The County will also reimburse the contractor for direct costs associated with debris disposal. Given the five-year contract term and the potential for price escalation, the total budget could be in the range of $1 million to $5 million per year, depending on the number of hours worked and the rates paid. Therefore, the estimated budget range is $5 million to $25 million over the life of the contract.
