Description

The California Energy Commission is seeking qualified firms to design, install, and operate a statewide fast‑charging network for electric vehicles under the CALeVIP 2.0 program. The effort will expand existing EV infrastructure, prioritize high‑traffic corridors, and ensure accessibility for underserved communities. Successful bidders will deliver site selection, permitting, construction, operations, and data‑reporting services aligned with state climate‑neutral goals. • Design and implement fast‑charging stations (≥150 kW) across identified priority locations. • Provide all permitting, utility coordination, and construction management services. • Operate and maintain the charging network, delivering performance metrics and usage data to the Commission. • Incorporate equity considerations to serve low‑income and rural areas. • Align with California’s greenhouse‑gas reduction targets and integrate renewable energy sources where feasible.

Budget estimate

$5,000,000 – $15,000,000

This is a large‑scale public‑sector infrastructure program that typically receives multi‑million‑dollar funding. Assuming the state allocates $50 M–$100 M for the full fast‑charge network, a prime contractor’s scope (design, construction, and first‑year operations) could be valued at roughly 10‑15 % of total program spend. That yields an estimated contract value of $5 M–$15 M. The range reflects variability in the number of sites, site‑complexity, and the extent of ongoing operations & maintenance services required.
