Description

The Bryan Independent School District is soliciting competitive proposals from qualified vendors to perform kitchen hood fire suppression system inspections district-wide. The contract will be for a one-year term, with two optional one-year renewal periods. The selected vendor will be required to inspect the systems, test remote pulls, perform automatic trip tests, and verify mechanical operation, among other tasks. The vendor must also provide a report of the inspection to Bryan ISD after each visit. Key tasks and responsibilities include: • Inspecting the system to determine if it is in service and in satisfactory condition • Testing remote pulls for condition and operation • Performing an automatic trip test of the system • Testing manual release of the system • Verifying mechanical operation of the system • Verifying the gas and electrical shutoff function • Replacing fusible links where required • Checking system components for cleanliness • Restoring the system to normal operations • Resetting the system • Installing new tamper seals • Inspecting suppression agent cylinder • Verifying cylinder/cartridge pressure, agent weight, and condition • Checking that the last hydro test dates are within code requirements • Inspecting and verifying piping/bracing to manufacturer's specifications • Inspecting all nozzles and verifying that they are properly aimed, free of blockage, and have proper blow off caps intact • Verifying that a proper portable fire extinguisher is available in an easily seen, acceptable location • Inspecting for any changes in the hazard area that may affect the performance and reliability of the fire suppression system • Tagging the system as required and performing all required record keeping • Compiling a complete report of the inspection, explaining any deficiencies and recommending corrective action to be taken in accordance with recognized codes

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is estimated to be between $50,000 and $200,000 per year, depending on the scope of work, the number of inspections required, and the level of expertise needed. The factors influencing this estimate include the cost of labor, equipment, and materials required for the inspections, as well as the vendor's overhead and profit margin. Given the complexity of the inspections and the need for specialized equipment and expertise, the higher end of the estimate range is more likely.
