The Department of Veterans Affairs is conducting market research to identify potential sources to provide a Real-Time Location System (RTLS) Patient Elopement System for the MedSurge area of the Boise VA Medical Center. The system should include locking mechanisms for doors and an elevator, and provide location tracking and alarm capabilities. The contractor will be responsible for providing all hardware and software, installation, and training for staff. The system should be able to track patients throughout the 2MS ward and provide customized patient tracking solutions based on patient elopement risk. The contractor should also provide around-the-clock technical support and respond to any necessary onsite repairs within eight hours.
Some key features of the system include:
• Location tracking of tagged individuals within the covered area
• Exceptions to alarms initiated by resident tags may be applied on an individual basis
• Ability to set alarm parameters and boundaries
• Ability to easily allow staff escort of monitored residents through protected areas without alarming the system
• Alarm information presented in an intuitive visual format
• Resident tags that can be located within 25 feet inside MedSurge
• Notification of patient location in the event of an elopement
• Detection of patient movement within seconds in rooms, beds, bays, nursing stations, and hallway
• Reliability in locking doors prior to patient arrival and detecting ankle-worn tags and tags near patient-room doors without signal interference
• RTLS Staff distress alerts
