Sedgwick County’s Purchasing Department is seeking an on‑call, on‑site translation and interpreter service provider to support the 18th Judicial District Court and the District Attorney’s Office. The vendor must be able to supply qualified interpreters for a broad roster of languages, arrive ahead of scheduled hearings, and respond to ad‑hoc requests within 48 business hours. The contract is a one‑year base term with four optional one‑year renewals, and evaluation will balance experience, staff qualifications, references, and price.
• On‑site interpreting only – no remote, telephone, or video services accepted.
• Languages required include Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Arabic, French, plus a long list of additional languages (e.g., Cambodian, Japanese, Russian, etc.).
• Minimum 3‑year experience, native‑level fluency, required Kansas Supreme Court Rule 1705 orientation, and strict conflict‑of‑interest policies.
• Pricing is hourly on‑site rates (tiered by language) with a two‑hour minimum per assignment; mileage charges only apply for work outside Sedgwick County.
• Vendor must provide three recent professional references, proof of insurance (minimum $1 M‑$2 M coverage), and answer HIPAA breach questions.
