Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a contractor to provide guardianship services for veterans who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves. The contractor will provide legal representation for the filing and disposition of guardianship cases, and will work with the VA Maine Healthcare System to establish a decision maker for veterans who lack capacity. The contract will be for a term of 5 years.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing legal services to assist with guardianship requests
• Representing the VA Maine Healthcare System during the guardianship process
• Filing petitions with the Maine Probate Court on behalf of the VA
• Providing legal services necessary to obtain guardianship
• Maintaining confidentiality of patient information
• Complying with VA regulations and policies
