Companion Care, Chore, and Guardianship Services

The City of Norfolk Department of Human Services is seeking qualified vendors to provide companion care, chore, and guardianship services for residents 60 years of age or older or any person 18 years of age or older who is incapacitated. The services include bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, transportation, supervision, companionship, household/financial management, and more. The city anticipates multiple contract awards, each for a five-year term. The selected vendors will be responsible for providing these services to approximately 100 seniors and adults with disabilities per fiscal year. Key responsibilities include: • Providing companion care services such as bathing, dressing, and toileting • Performing non-routine, heavy home maintenance tasks for adults who are unable to perform such tasks • Appointing an experienced Adult Services Provider to provide direction and personnel • Maintaining an accounting system and supporting records to ensure claims for funds are in accordance with applicable state, federal, and accrediting agency requirements • Ensuring confidentiality and adhering to federal immigration law and state law regarding authorization to transact business in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
