Description

The Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Access Model is a multi-year, voluntary model for states and manufacturers to increase access to innovative treatments for Medicaid beneficiaries. The initial focus is on gene therapy treatments for people living with sickle cell disease. The model aims to improve health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and address access barriers. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services will partner with a community-based organization to implement the model. The selected organization will provide educational materials, care coordination services, and wraparound services to beneficiaries. • The model will support personnel costs for the state and the community-based organization. • The model will allow the community-based organization to implement the CGT Access Model and provide beneficiary and provider education and training. • The model will support research to inform implementation and assess the effectiveness of wraparound services. • The community-based organization must have the capacity to provide services related to the CGT Access Model and the treatment of sickle cell disease. • The organization must be registered and pre-qualified through the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) Grantee Portal.
