STACS DNA

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation Laboratory is seeking sole source authorization for the support and maintenance of the STACS DNA laboratory information management system software application. This system is used to manage biological substance samples from persons convicted of a felony, as well as persons arrested and charged with a felony. The system allows for automated management of all biographical and genetic information of these database samples. The vendor, STACS DNA, is the only company that can provide the necessary support and maintenance for this system. * The system is used for DNA database analysis, which is an extremely specialized field with strict standards. * The system is currently installed on servers managed by OIT, and support for the application is included with the annual maintenance contract with STACS DNA. * The vendor has been providing Information Technology Consulting and Software Engineering Services to Forensic clients in the public sector since 2000. * The STACS DB software is a specialized Forensic DNA Database software application that gives users the tools they need to control access to sensitive information, maintain instruments, manage inventory, troubleshoot problems, and prepare for audits.
