Deputy Building Inspector

The State of Tennessee’s Department of Commerce and Insurance is seeking a qualified Tennessee Professional Corporation to serve as a Deputy Building Inspector (DBI) and perform required residential building, mechanical, and plumbing inspections for one‑ and two‑family homes. The contractor must hold State Fire Marshal certifications, maintain required technology (4G phone, Wi‑Fi‑enabled computer/tablet, printer), and be able to cover at least three counties. Inspections must be completed within statutory timeframes (3 working days for general, 1 working day for footers) and reports submitted through the State’s online portal. Payment is on a per‑inspection fee schedule ranging from $75 to $1,300, with additional charges for mechanical/plumbing and slab inspections.
