Description

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking a contractor to design, develop, and pilot test a smartphone application to enhance older driver safety. The application should assist older drivers in avoiding risky traffic situations and alert them to upcoming changes in the driving environment. The contractor will be responsible for managing technical transition from initial wireframe concept to a pilot-tested prototype ready for large-scale field evaluation. The project scope includes user interface and user experience development, prototyping and pilot testing, research design, technical documentation, and field operational test design. • The contractor will conduct a kickoff meeting with NHTSA personnel to discuss the project's objectives and scope. • The contractor will submit a draft work plan, which will be reviewed and approved by NHTSA. • The contractor will design and develop the smartphone application, including wireframe testing and iterative testing. • The contractor will conduct a virtual briefing to demonstrate the application prototype and describe the pilot testing protocol. • The contractor will submit a final report, including an executive summary, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references.
